Cinedigm buys into Roundtable Entertainment as pair prep streaming channels

LA-based distributor and digital channels operator Cinedigm has taken a minority stake in new multi-platform production and distribution company Roundtable Entertainment as the two plan to launch streaming channels.

Roundtable Entertainment was formed in February by media industry veterans Dominic Ianno, John Baldecchi, Alex Dundas and Griffin Gmelich, and plans to produce scripted and unscripted TV, feature film and podcasts, in addition to distributing both owned IP and third-party content to platforms globally.

Through Cinedigm and Roundtable’s partnership, the pair will launch multiple high-profile enthusiast streaming channels, with the former taking a minority stake in the latter. Erick Opeka, Cinedigm’s president and chief strategy officer, will take join Roundtable’s board of directors.

Also under the deal, Cinedigm and Roundtable will co-finance and co-own the IP of original films to be distributed domestically on Cinedigm’s OTT networks and on other third-party streaming platforms.
