Chicken Shop Date creator Amelia Dimoldenberg lands digital Channel 4 show

Amelia Dimoldenberg in Celebrity Rebrand

Channel 4 in the UK has commissioned a satirical comedy series that will attempt to “urgently” overhaul the public perception of some of its on-screen stars.

Celebrity Rebrand (6×12’) has been created by Amelia Dimoldenberg. In the show, the comedian will help some of C4’s screen personalities refresh their brand and connect with a wider audience.

Dimoldenberg is the creator behind popular web series Chicken Shop Date. Earlier this year, she launched her own prodco, Dimz Inc, and secured a commission from UKTV for shortform series Who Cares?.

Celebrity Rebrand, set to launch on C4’s social media platforms later this year, is produced by Ranga Bee Productions, whose founder Romesh Ranganathan exec produces alongside Dimoldenberg, Benjamin Green and Shereen Docherty.

It was commissioned for C4’s digital platforms by digital commissioning executive Evie Buckley and head of digital commissioning Sacha Khari.

The project includes Jimmy Carr, Clare Balding, Jamie Laing, Anna Richardson and Rosie Jones as celebs looking to renovate their images.

“Celebrity Rebrand is a rare gem of an idea that expertly marries our favourite TV and digital talent with a witty, anarchic and purposefully-awkward premise,” said Buckley.

“Ranga Bee and Amelia have tapped into what we love about these household names and the internet’s best cultural faux-pas to create a series that ticks all the boxes as to what we’re looking for in digital commissioning.”
