TV industry veteran Charlotte Moore and former Channel 4 (C4) chief executive Alex Mahon were among luminaries from the arts and media sector to be named in the 2026 New Year Honours.

Moore left her position as chief content officer at the BBC last year to become CEO of Left Bank Pictures (The Crown) and exec VP, creative director at Sony Pictures Television’s International Production Group; while Mahon stepped down from the top job at C4 to become the boss of live entertainment group Superstruct Entertainment.

Moore was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) and Mahon received a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for their contributions to public service media. The annual New Year Honours list sees King Charles grant state honours to people for outstanding achievements in public life.

Elsewhere, actress Meera Syal (The Kumars at No 42) was presented with a damehood, while The Wire star Idris Elba received a knighthood for services to young people. Roy Clarke, who created hit sitcoms such as Last of the Summer Wine and Open All Hours, was also honoured with a knighthood, while Match of the Day host Gabby Logan was handed an OBE for services to sports broadcasting and charity.

Meanwhile, former Endemol UK creative director and Pointless creator Richard Osman received an OBE for services to literature and broadcasting.
