Channel 5 family drama Compulsion sells to Paramount+ in Australia, Lat Am, Nordics

Compulsion centres on a paramedic who struggles with PTSD

SVoD service Paramount+ in Australia, Latin America and the Nordics has picked up Channel 5 family drama Compulsion.

Produced by LA Productions in association with Eccho Rights, which also handles the international rights, Compulsion follows Jenny, a paramedic on the verge of losing everything, who meets a stranger who seems to have the answers to her problems. But just how far is Jenny prepared to go to save her family?

Jenny is played by Leanne Best (Cold Feet, Young Wallander), with other cast members including Anna Chancellor (The Watch, The Hour, Four Weddings & a Funeral) and Hayley Mills (Pollyanna, Pitching In).

The series is written by Sarah Deane (Moving On, Clink), directed by Noreen Kershaw (Call the Midwife) and produced by Donna Molloy for LA Productions. Executive producers are Colin McKeown (LA Productions), Sebastian Cardwell (Channel 5), Adam Barth and Nicola Söderlund (both for Eccho Rights).

Lucy Roberts, director of sales for Western Europe at Eccho Rights, said: “Compulsion is a gripping thriller but with a human story at its core, and although Jenny finds herself in an extraordinary situation, international audiences will easily relate to her predicament of just wanting the best for her family.”
