Channel 5 commissions thriller series from Story Films, All3Media International

ViacomCBS-owned terrestrial broadcaster Channel 5 in the UK has commissioned a four-part thriller produced by London-based Story Films in association with distributor All3Media International.

Nina Toussaint-White

Set to air in 2022, Witness No.3 (4×60’) centres on a single woman, played by Nina Toussaint-White (The Sister, Bodyguard), who runs a hairdressing salon and sees the moments before a murder through the window. When the police appeal for witnesses, she comes forward.

Joining the ensemble cast are Sion Daniel Young (Deceit, The Left Behind), Clare Dunne (Kin, Herself), Ruaridh Mollica (Stonemouth, Tell it to the Bees) and Sue Johnston (The Royle Family, Downton Abbey.)

Witness No.3 is written by Thomas Eccleshare and directed by Diarmuid Goggins (Silent Witness, Buletproof). Alex Jones (Penance) is the producer, while Story Films co-founder David Nath exec produces with Samson Films MD David Collins. All3Media International handles global distribution.

The show is the latest drama greenlight from C5 to be announced following the broadcaster’s expansion of its original drama slate in recent years, which has led to thrillers such as Penance and The Drowning.

Witness No.3 is currently filming on location in Ireland. Story Films, founded in 2016 by Nath and Peter Beard, is a subsidiary of All3Media-owned Objective Media Group.

“Thomas Eccleshare has written a compelling thriller, oozing with paranoia and claustrophobia, which poses a simple question: how far are you prepared to go to do the right thing?” said Nath.
