Channel 5 adds six true crime docs

ViacomCBS-owned UK broadcaster Channel 5 has greenlit six true crime documentaries for its forthcoming slate.

From ITN Productions are murder series Manhunt (6×90’), which tells the stories of some of the UK’s most infamous crimes, and docu-drama The Railway Murders (3×60’), which recounts a series of attacks on young women at UK railway stations in the 1980s.

From Vice Studios is forensic psychology-led series Jack the Ripper: The Hidden Victims (3×60’), which follows a panel of experts as they re-examine evidence from London’s most notorious unsolved murders.

Meanwhile, Luke Mitchell (working title) is a 2×60’ programme from Firecracker Films that reopens the case files on one of Scotland’s most brutal murders.

October Films is producing Warboys: The New Revelations, a 1×90’ doc telling the story of the UK’s most prolific sexual predator, taxi driver John Warboys.

Finally, from Clockwork Films and Daisybeck Studios is copro doc The Yorkshire Ripper: The Untold Story (1×90’), which provides a fresh perspective on the crimes of Yorkshire-based killer Peter Sutcliffe.

Clockwork Films is the eighth indie to have had a commission as a result of C5’s BAME indies initiative.
