Channel 4 tackles veteran’s mental health issues with Arctic Adventure: Ultimate Survival

Arctic Adventure: Ultimate Survival is produced by factual specialist Caravan

UK pubcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a documentary which follows four army veterans as they take on an ultramarathon in the Arctic.

Produced by factual specialist Caravan, Arctic Adventure: Ultimate Survival (1×60’) sees the veterans attempt to complete a 500km endurance race in Swedish Lapland in 10 days, skiing and hiking for more than 18 hours a day while dragging 45kg of sledges of food and survival gear in -25°C temperatures.

As the expedition progresses, they open up about dealing with mental health issues, discussing their past life-changing traumas.

Arctic Adventure: Ultimate Survival is produced and directed by Tom Cross, produced by Samuel Mundell and exec produced by Caravan’s CEO Dinah Lord. Banijay Rights is distributing worldwide.

Lord said: “Arctic Adventure: Ultimate Survival combines escapism, humour and brutally tough arctic conditions with a really powerful message about male mental health: the importance of being honest, and that asking for help when you need it doesn’t make you any less of a man – in fact, it’s critical for survival.”
