Channel 4, PBS join buyers prescribing Royal Flying Doctor Service drama

Australian drama series RFDS: Royal Flying Doctor Service

Six broadcasters around the world including Channel 4 in the UK and PBS in the US have acquired forthcoming Australian drama series RFDS: Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Channel 4 has picked up the series for its More 4 network. The remaining broadcasters to have acquired the drama comprise TV4 in Sweden, Belgium’s SBS, Talpa in the Netherlands and New Zealand’s TVNZ.

Produced by Endemol Shine Banks for Australia’s Seven Network, where it will premiere next week, RFDS (8×60’) portrays the modern-day heroes of the real-life Royal Flying Doctor Service, where doctors and nurses, pilots and support staff negotiate the unique challenges of emergency rescue across some of the most inhospitable places in the country.

Co-created by Imogen Banks, Mark Fennessy and Ian Meadows, RFDS is distributed internationally by Banijay Rights.
