Channel 4 examines The Real Windsors in royal family documentary series

Docuseries The Real Windsors

UK pubcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a docuseries examining the current standing of the British royal family as it steps up its succession plans for the next two generations.

Produced by Spun Gold TV, The Real Windsors (3×60’) begins by looking at how the Queen has built the royal family into one of the world’s most recognisable and longest running brands.

The second episode is about Prince Charles, his long apprenticeship for the role of monarch and how his reign will differ from his mother’s, while episode three examines Prince William and whether he is more traditional than his PR team makes out with its branding of him and Kate.

Peter Gauvain, Nick Blakemore and Kim Lomax are directing and producing The Real Windsors. Teresa Watkins exec produces for Spun Gold. All3Media International has worldwide distribution rights.

In other news, Channel 4 has acquired season two of Hulu comedy drama Ramy. The award-winning series from A24 and distributed in partnership with Lionsgate Television is set to return to Channel 4 and All 4 with comedian Ramy Youssef reprising his titular role.
