Channel 4 and Starz’s The Couple Next Door continue global journey with RTL, VTM, Rai

The Couple Next Door is loosely adapted from Dutch series The Neighbors

MIPCOM: Broadcasters including RTL in Germany, VTM in Belgium and Rai in Italy have picked up Channel 4 and Starz thriller The Couple Next Door.

The six-hour drama’s German distributor, Beta Film, said at Mipcom today it has now sold the series into 55 territories around the world, including the Netherlands, where Amazon has the first window and RTL Netherlands the second, Israel (Yes), Brazil/Latin America (NBCUniversal) and Hong Kong (NOW TV).

The series stars Sam Heughan (Outlander, Suspect), Eleanor Tomlinson (The Outlaws, Poldark), Jessica De Gouw (Pennyworth, Our Man From Jersey) and Alfred Enoch (Harry Potter, How to Get Away With Murder), and explores the stultifying claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout from chasing your darkest desires.

Loosely adapted from Dutch series The Neighbors by Millstreet Films, The Couple Next Door is written by David Allison (Marcella, Bedlam), directed by Dries Vos (Suspect, Professor T), produced by Jen Burnet and executive produced by Jo McGrath, Walter Iuzzolino and Alison Kee.

The Couple Next Door airs on Channel 4 in the UK and will be seen on Starz in the US and Canada. It is produced by Eagle Eye in association with Beta Film, which is the international partner for the series.
