Channel 4 acquires Woodcut Media docuseries Queens that Changed the World

Queens that Changed the World looks at rulers including Egyptian pharaoh Hatshepsut

Commercially funded UK pubcaster Channel 4 has acquired a new history docuseries that shines a light on standout female rulers throughout history.

Queens that Changed the World has been produced by UK indie Woodcut Media, which brokered the deal with Channel 4.

The 6×45’ series is being distributed by London-based Abacus Media Rights, which has already agreed pre-sales with streaming service BBC Select (USA & Canada) and broadcasters SBS (Australia), AMC Networks International (Spain and Portugal), Viasat World (CEE, Scandinavia, Baltics, CIS), NRK (Norway), DR (Denmark), SVT (Sweden), Czech TV (Czech Republic) and HOT8 (Israel).

Women examined in the series include Elizabeth I, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Queen Victoria, Egyptian pharaoh Hatshepsut and warrior queen Boudica.

The series producer is Angie Cox, with Kate Beal and Tom Adams exec producing for Woodcut Media.
