The project comes from CBS Studios and is being developed by executive producer and writer Lindsey Shockley (Black-ish), as well as executive producer Damon Wayans Jr through his Two Shakes Entertainment banner.

The reimagining of the comedy is described as a female-driven reboot centred around a new wife and her husband who are determined to have a marriage where they are true equals in every way.

Also serving as executive producers are director Kelly Park and Two Shakes Entertainment’s head of original content Kameron Tarlow.

The original version of The Honeymooners, created by and starring Jackie Gleason, ran for 39 episodes from 1955 to 1956. The show is credited as being one of the first comedies to portray working-class married couples in a realistic and gritty manner. Starring alongside Gleason in the original were Audrey Meadows, Art Carney, Joyce Randolph and Pert Kelton.
