CBS Studios, Big Talk accept Amazon’s invitation to Friday Night Dinner at Freevee

The original UK show, Friday Night Dinner, ran for six seasons

Freevee, the premium free streaming service from US tech giant Amazon, has commissioned a US adaptation of Channel 4 comedy series Friday Night Dinner.

CBS Studios and Big Talk are working on half-hour comedy series Dinner With The Parents, to be adapted from UK show Friday Night Dinner, which was written by Robert Popper.

The format follows two brothers in their 20s who go to their mum and dad’s for dinner each week.

The ten-episode adaptation will be filmed in the UK with a US cast, with Jon Beckerman showrunning and Tristram Shapeero directing.

The series is being exec produced by Jon Beckerman, Kenton Allen, Matthew Justice, Robert Popper and Caroline Leddy.

In the UK, the original ran for six seasons and 37 episodes between 2011 and 2020.
