CBS preps Big Bang scribes’ sitcom

United States of Al was created by The Big Bang Theory’s David Goetsch and Maria Ferrari

US broadcast network CBS has unveiled a comedy series from two writers of The Big Bang Theory which will premiere in April.

United States of Al was created and written by Big Bang scribes David Goetsch and Maria Ferrari and is executive produced by the hit sitcom’s creator, Chuck Lorre.

The new show centres on a US veteran of Afghanistan who is reunited with his squad’s interpreter when he arrives in the US.

The show stars Adhir Kalyan (Rules of Engagement) and Parker Young (Suburgatory, Enlisted). Also in the cast are Elizabeth Alderfer, Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Kelli Goss (The Ranch) and Farrah Mackenzie.

The Big Bang Theory director Mark Cendrowski will executive produce and direct the pilot. Goetsch, Ferrari, Lorre, Reza Aslan and Mahyad Tousi are the executive producers for Warner Bros Television and Chuck Lorre Productions.
