CBS confirms end of CSI

UPFRONTS: As expected, the fall schedule release from US broadcast network CBS has brought down the curtain on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation after 15 seasons.

Ted Danson is moving to CSI: Cyber

The show, created by Anthony E Zuiker, has been one of the world’s most watched series over the past decade and its 15th season concluded on February 15 this year.

CSI: Miami and CSI: New York were cancelled in 2012 and 2013 after their 10th and ninth seasons, respectively. Spin-off CSI: Cyber is getting a second season run, however, premiering in the old CSI 22.00 Sunday slot. Star Ted Danson will move from the original to the Cyber version.

Meanwhile, new comedy Life in Pieces will begin in a 20.30 slot on Mondays before switching to Thursdays in November once the network’s live NFL Thursday Night Football stint is over. Another comedy, Angel from Hell, will also debut on Thursdays at 21.30 once the football is over.

New drama Supergirl will move into the 20.00 Monday slot once that happens. Other big new dramas Limitless and Code Black will premiere in the 22.00 slot on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

“This is a schedule well-positioned to build on the foundation of last year when we introduced five successful new series and increased our audience by 5%,” said Nina Tassler, chairman of CBS Entertainment.
