Bristow Global Media (BGM) will produce branded content for traditional linear and digital platforms, domestically and internationally.

The company said it would use strategic partnerships around the world to provide engaging content and strategic opportunities for brands. The fledgling outfit has already announced partnerships with GroupM Entertainment and Jamie Oliver’s London-based Fresh One Productions.

The move follows Bristow’s departure from her executive director of studio and unscripted programming position at CBC in June.

She had held a variety of roles with the Canadian public broadcaster, including executive director of factual entertainment and director of current affairs and weekly programming, since starting her career there in 1993.

Bristow was behind CBC’s move into factual and other unscripted programming, including long-standing network tentpole Dragons’ Den and the late-night talkshow George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. Her division also oversaw the network’s lucrative sports department.

Bristow said: “The launch of BGM is the culmination of my life’s work. We’re entering the market at a unique time. The business opportunities are unprecedented and we have the resources and expertise to create content that speaks directly to today’s consumer in an ever-changing global landscape.”
