CBC sales arm picks up war veteran doc

Patrick Thomas and John Henry Phillips in doc No Roses on a Sailor’s Grave

NEWS BRIEF: CBC & Radio-Canada Distribution, the content licensing arm of Canuck national broadcaster CBC, has acquired the worldwide rights excluding Canada to feature-length documentary No Roses on a Sailor’s Grave (1×80’).

Produced by Toronto’s Go Button Media, the doc tells the story of Patrick Thomas, a D-Day veteran who survived his ship being sunk in 1944 and seeks the help of young archaeologist John Henry Phillips to find the wreck and build a memorial. The doc has also been acquired by local broadcaster Hollywood Suite to air on November 11.
