Fridge Wars is a studio-based show that will be produced in Canada and challenges two chefs to make the best meals from the ingredients found in family fridges across the country.

In 2014, CBC announced a collaboration with Phil Gurin’s The Gurin Company to develop original Canadian formats for global distribution. Gurin is now president of unscripted and alternative television at Global Road Entertainment.

Global Road’s TV division has previously announced co-development agreements with New Nation Networks, France’s Newen and Film.UA Group in Ukraine, as well as coproduction development deals with Spark Media, Double Yellow TV and 3 Magic Monkeys.

The latest format was announced by Jennifer Dettman, executive director of unscripted content at CBC, and Gurin.
