CBC bites into healthy eating toon

Preschool book property The Boy Who Became What He Ate has taken another step towards TV following a deal with a Canadian broadcaster and producers.

CBC, Radical Sheep Productions and Mickey Rogers Media have entered into a development deal with UK-based IP developer Storycake to produce Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate as a preschool toon.

The 11-minute episodes will encourage kids to eat healthily and are based on the children’s book by Sheena Macrae of Storycake.

Global intellectual property rights to the brand, including film and TV, were acquired by publisher Penguin Children’s back in 2012.

“Not only is it a great way to teach kids about nutrition, it’s also a great way to make healthy eating more fun which in turn supports Canadian parents,” said Kim Wilson, creative head, children’s and youth programming, Kids’ CBC.
