CBBC, int’l nets take more Operation Ouch

Operation Ouch is fronted by twin brother doctors Chris and Xand van Tulleken

An eighth season of factual entertainment series Operation Ouch will air on UK children’s channel CBBC later this year, while numerous international broadcasters have acquired more episodes of the show.

The programme, produced by All3Media-owned prodco Maverick Television and sold internationally by UK distributor Serious Lunch, teaches kids about the human body.

The eighth season is due to begin airing on CBBC this winter, while the Dutch version of the format, Top Doks, produced by EO for NPO, is in production on its fourth season.

Meanwhile, ZDF in Germany has picked up more episodes to air on children’s channel KiKa later this year, joining broadcasters such as the ABC in Australia, Czech TV and Noga in Israel in licensing more episodes of the show.

In addition, a US version of the format is in development at Maverick, with Serious Lunch set to take the show out to its North American clients this year, the distributor said.
