Castle creators prep US, Europe copro

Broadcasters in the US, Germany and France have greenlit a detective series from the creators of Castle to be coproduced by Tandem Productions and ABC Studios.

Rola Bauer

ABC in the US, RTL/Vox in Germany and France Télévisions have ordered Take Two from Castle creators and executive producers Terri Edda Miller and Andrew W Marlowe.

Described as an “entertaining, upbeat procedural,” the show follows a former star of a hit cop series who, fresh out of rehab, shadows a rough-and-tumble private investigator as research for her potential comeback role.

Miller and Marlowe will executive produce the show under their Milmar Pictures banner, along with Tandem-owner StudioCanal TV’s Rola Bauer and Tandem’s Tim Halkin.

Bilson (Hart of Dixie, Nashville) will star alongside Eddie Cibrian (CSI: Miami, Rosewood), with StudioCanal acting as the lead studio and ABC Studios’ affiliate Disney Media Distribution handling international sales.

“Terri and Andrew have created wonderful characters and a light-hearted, yet strong drama that has excited leading networks on both sides of the pond. This is a new paradigm for network coproductions, with the anchor networks being in the US and Europe,” said Bauer, MD of StudioCanal TV.

“The programming of ABC, France 2 and RTL/Vox is a natural fit and will allow us to protect our creative vision and our ability to produce a top-quality network series,” added Halkin.

Miller and Marlowe are represented by Ted Miller from Creative Artists Agency (CAA), who helped broker the deal; Guymon Casady from Management 360; and Linda Lichter and Jonathan E Shikora from Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Adler & Feldman.

Tandem Productions and StudioCanal are represented by Craig Emanuel, Roger Arar and Scott Edel from Loeb & Loeb, as well as Adam Berkowitz and Ted Miller from CAA.
