Carnival’s Pope takes Mopar creative role

Stockholm-based Mopar Studios has hired Jessica Pope from UK-based Carnival Film & Television as its creative director of drama.

Reporting to Mopar’s chief operating officer, William Diskay, Pope will be responsible for leading the company’s creative vision and overseeing production.

The appointment is part of the the producer’s ambition to produce more English-language dramas with global appeal. Pope will also oversee the creative and production teams to ensure that all greenlit shows are delivered on time and within budget.

Pope takes 25 years’ experience to Mopar, producer of Rig 45 and The Last Journey of the Vikings, with expertise ranging from script development through production to post-production. At Downton Abbey producer Carnival, she was co-executive producer on The Last Kingdom.

Prior to Carnival, Pope was an executive producer for BBC Drama Studios and BBC North, where her credits include developing and running of The Musketeers, Burton & Taylor, Good Cop, Bert & Dickie and The State Within.

Before joining the BBC, Pope worked as a deputy commissioning editor for Channel 4 Drama across shows such as Pyschos, Kid in the Corner, Anna Karenina and Guy Ritchie’s series Lock, Stock.
