Canuck comedy gets Serbian adaptation

Les Beaux Malaises originally aired on TVA

Telekom Serbia has picked up a scripted comedy series from French-Canadian producer Quebecor Content for local adaptation.

The Balkan broadcaster has adapted all three seasons of comedy series Les Beaux Malaises, which will be rebranded as Slatke Muke for the Serbian version.

The original series follows a stand-up comedian, including the challenges and awkward situations he finds himself in.

Slatke Muke is produced by Serbian prodcos Fresh Production and Blekbuk, with Zorana Popovic and Filip Djoric serving as the series’ producers. The show will be broadcast on telekom-owned Superstar TV on December 9.

“We were really impressed with the quality of the scripts and the humour delivered brilliantly by Martin Matte in the original series, and we thought it would be a great fit for our audience,” said Popovic.

“Securing Serbian star Andrija Milosevic as the lead character, along with the strong cast we’ve brought together, convinced us and Telekom to adapt not some but all of the episodes,” added Djoric.

The original Canadian series was created by Martin Matte, alongside François Avard, and was produced by Encore Television, Matte TV and Quebecor Content, and broadcast on TVA. It was also adapted in France by M6 and picked up by Netfllix.
