Canal+ takes Fresh TV’s Total Dramarama

L to R: Ed Galton and Julien Farcat from Cake, Chrystel Poncet of Canal+ and Tom McGillis

MIPCOM: A broadcaster in France has acquired Total Dramarama, the prequel to hit animated series Total Drama, from UK-based producer and distributor Cake.

Canal+ in France has picked up the 52×11′ series, which is aimed at 6-11s and transposes the characters from its predecessor into a daycare setting as toddlers.

The series is produced by Canada’s Fresh TV, in association with Teletoon in Canada and Cartoon Network US.

It premiered in the US on Cartoon Network on September 1 and in Canada on Teletoon on October 7. It will air on Canal+-owned pay TV channels Canal+ Family and Teletoon+ next year.

The Total Drama franchise was created by Fresh TV’s Tom McGillis and Jennifer Pertsch and began with Total Drama Island in 2007.
