Canal+ takes French-Canadian drama No Return, Ukraine’s Early Birds for CEE

Murder-mystery No Return is produced by Sphere Media

Broadcaster Canal+ has acquired French-Canadian whodunnit No Return and Ukrainian young-adult drama Early Birds from French producer and distributor Oble for its channels in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Canal+ has picked up No Return for Poland and other CEE markets such as Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania, as well as two seasons (16×50′) of Early Birds, also for CEE.

The show is described as an Agatha Christie-flavoured murder-mystery produced by Sphere Media for Bell Media’s linear network Noovoo and streamer Crave.

Starlight Media’s Early Birds follows a group of teenagers

Starlight Media’s Early Birds is a poignant series that dives into the intimacy between a group of teenagers, revealing their struggles with cyber-bullying, identity and social exclusion.

In addition, Swiss series Life Goes On has been picked up by TV5Monde.

The heart-warming Swiss family dramedy, with a modern superwoman at its heart, deals with the small daily worries and big existential crises of an almost functional family. Originally produced by Point Prod and broadcast on RTS, the six-part drama stars Audrey Dana.

Katia Sol, co-founder of Oble, said: “At Oble we are committed to bringing stories that resonate in today’s society to new audiences around the globe – stories that educate, entertain and inspire. We are convinced that great storytelling knows no boundaries and these three shows are a perfect example of the engaging content we strive to share with the world.”
