Canal+, Pernel Media pair for Kim Kardashian robbery documentary

Kim, the Diamond, and the Grandpa Robbers

French pay TV operator Canal+ has commissioned a four-part documentary series on a daring attempt by an ageing group of assailants to rob socialite Kim Kardashian at gunpoint.

Paris-based Pernel Media is working on Kim, the Diamond, and the Grandpa Robbers for the pay TV broadcaster.

In October 2016, at the height of Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian was robbed of a valuable diamond at gunpoint inside a private residence. Within hours, the crime became global news.

The four-part documentary pulls back the curtain on one of the decade’s boldest celebrity heists. Rather than re-telling a familiar news story, the series rebuilds the case through those who lived it.

Nearly a decade on, questions still linger. The suspects were identified. Confessions were made. Yet all ultimately walked free, and the diamond has never been recovered.

Samuel Kissous founder of Pernel Media and exec producer said: “With roots in France and one of the most famous names in the world, this premium pop crime series sits very much within the DNA of the international productions that we at Pernel Media love to put together – combining strong storytelling with projects designed to travel.”
