France’s Canal+ Group has appointed Jérémie Khiat as director of a new dedicated comedy division, overseeing comedy content across TV, films and shortform movies.

Khiat will lead the newly created ‘bureau de la comédie,’ a unified structure that Canal+ said will identify talent as well as develop and produce ideas.

It is described as the first cross-functional unit between Canal+ and sales arm StudioCanal to be entirely dedicated to comedy.

Starting his new role immediately, Khiat will report to Jean-Marc Juramie, deputy CEO of Canal+, in charge of programmes and channels, and Anna Marsh, CEO of StudioCanal, for feature film coproductions.

Khiat began his career at StudioCanal in 2019, serving in international film sales before joining the Canal+ original creation development teams. In 2021, he joined StudioCanal’s French film production division. One year later, Khiat joined Canal+ as a project manager, overseeing fictional comedy content. In 2024, he became editorial director in charge of TV shows and fiction.
