French Toast Films is currently in development on several TV and film titles, including Shared Spaces, a French/Italian/English romantic comedy set along the Mediterranean coast; Hebrew School Dropout, a period comedy feature set in the late 90s; Christmas comedy feature Carollers’ Crossing; and queer financial advice series Financially Fabulous, following advisor Aman Banwait as he travels across Canada helping young people manage their money.

The official launch of the company comes after French Toast handled service production on Lice, a US horror-comedy from ActionPark Media starring Kevin Connolly, Emile Hirsch and Justin Long.

Ewenson, who was a producer on the project, has credits on more than 20 feature films as well as commercials.

The company said its mission is to champion “bold, diverse voices and globally resonant stories” by developing “innovative and meaningful” content.

“Filmmaking should be fun, creative and collaborative, but is so often slowed down by industry barriers and red tape. French Toast Films was born from the belief that filmmaking doesn’t have to follow the old rules,” said Ewenson.

“We’re proving every day that you can challenge industry norms, support talent and still deliver world-class results.”
