Canada’s Global Mechanic brings Wolf & Button to Cannes as part of preschool slate

Wolf & Button

Vancouver-based studio Global Mechanic Media is launching several new preschool shows at Mipcom, headlined by Wolf & Button, which the company co-created alongside Emmy winners Kathy Waugh and Glen Berger (Peep & The Big Wide World).

Co-developed by GBH Kids (a division of US pubcaster PBS) and Global Mechanic, animated series Wolf & Button looks at the world of preschoolers through the eyes of two adventurous best friends.

Other Mipcom priorities for the company include Oddly Kids, created by Montreal-based writer Angela Goulène, which explains the things that can make a child feel different, such as autism and ADHD, in a child-friendly way.

Also new for 2022 are Shy Willow, produced in partnership with New York’s MiMO Studios and based on the picture books by Cat Min about a shy rabbit; What On Earth, co-created by Emmy-winning writer Lynn Brunelle; Junior Explorers Club, created by Cheryl Carlesimo and Stone House Productions; and Cup + Pup, a Global Mechanic in-house production created by company founders Tina Bruce Alcock and Bruce Alcock.

“While we love pure comedies, it was time to greatly ramp up our fun and educational preschool slate,” said Tina Ouellette, CEO at Global Mechanic. “Plus we know that great ideas come from strong partnerships, which is why we have teamed up with some amazing companies and highly imaginative creators.”

Established in 2000, Global Mechanic is best known for the Emmy-winning series Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman and award-winning interactive series Scribbles & Ink.
