Canada’s Frantic Films bulks up with Anaid Productions’ library acquisition

Anaid Productions’ Hoarder House Flippers

Winnipeg- and Toronto-based Frantic Films has acquired the library of fellow Canadian production outfit Anaid Productions, which is ceasing operations after more than 30 years.

Vancouver-based Anaid, which was founded in 1993 by president Margaret Mardirossian, is behind shows such as Hoarder House Flippers (HGTV, Hulu) and The Liquidator (City, Discovery).

Its other unscripted credits include Hip Hop My House (Paramount+), Mind Set Go (AMI-tv) and The Liquidator (OLN).

Frantic said the deal expands its overall library to more than 900 hours and 1,500 episodes.

Evra Media Solutions advised Anaid on the sale of the library. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Led by CEO Jamie Brown, Frantic Films is behind series including Baroness Von Sketch Show (CBC), Backyard Builds (HGTV Canada), Killer in Plain Sight (Investigation Discovery) and The Great Canadian Pottery Throwdown (CBC).

“As huge fans of Frantic Films’ outstanding productions and brilliant management, we are delighted that Frantic is taking stewardship of our beloved shows,” said Mardirossian in a statement.

In a separate note sent to C21, the veteran producer added: “We’ve had a marvellous 30-plus-year run working with the brightest and the best in this industry. Time for us to pass the baton.”

Frantic’s Brown added: “Anaid’s high quality successful series are an excellent addition to Frantic’s existing library of unscripted programmes. Anaid has an exceptional track record of creating bold, engaging content that resonates with audiences.”
