Canada’s Amuz Distribution agrees Just for Laughs content deal, hires Carlos Pacheco

Quebec-based sales house Amuz Distribution (AD) has bought the entire content catalogue of Montreal-headquartered comedy organisation Just for Laughs Group (JFLG) – and hired the same company’s Carlos Pacheco as its new director of monetisation and OTT.

The acquisition package deal sees AD boost its content library by more than 1,000 hours with a range of comedy-skewing titles.

Meanwhile, Pacheco joins from JFLG, where he served as director of OTT/FAST channel strategy and operations.

Prior to that, Pacheco also worked at Toronto-based Boat Rocker as director of digital strategy and partnerships, before being upped to VP of audience development.

There, he helped launch the company’s online rights management system and roll out of YouTube channels including The Next Step and Oh Yum.

Alex Avon, chief revenue officer, AD, said: “Carlos’ experience in the global marketplace and especially as a leader in the OTT space will help us reach the company’s next level.”

Pacheco said: “Amuz Distribution has been actively growing its international reach, on a path towards great success and I am excited to be part of the team to help them in this new expansion.”
