Campfire Studios ups Ross Girard to chief operating officer, expands team

Wheelhouse-backed US production company Campfire Studios has elevated Ross Girard to chief operating officer and made several other promotions and hires.

The company, led by CEO Ross Dinerstein, has also upped Rebecca Evans to executive VP of non-fiction content and Mark McCune to senior VP of production and operations.

In addition, Campfire has hired former Tremelo Productions exec Will Mavronicolas as executive post producer, Matthew Taylor as senior VP of finance and Raquel Villar as senior VP of business and legal affairs.

The promotions and hires come as the company looks to supercharge its scripted operations following the appointment of Ryan Christians as senior VP and head of scripted content in March.

The company has enjoyed a growth spurt of late, with Dinerstein noting that Campfire has “tripled in size within the last two years.”

Girard, who joined in 2017 and most recently served as executive VP president of production,
has been a key figure in Campfire’s growth. During his tenure with the company, he has produced series including HBO Max’s The Way Down and Hulu’s feature doc WeWork: Or the Making and Breaking of a $47 Billion Unicorn, in addition to a pair of Netflix series, Special and Voir.

Evans, who was previously the senior VP of non-fiction, recently served as executive producer and co-executive producer on projects including Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults and The Way Down for HBO Max, Hulu’s WeWork, female comedy doc Hysterical for FX and The Lost Sons for CNN Films.

According to Campfire, Evans’ work has led to the sale of more than 20 series and films. She currently has more than 10 projects in production for platforms including HBO Max, Netflix and Hulu.
