Cake teams up with Bridesmaids writer Annie Mumolo, comedian Ariane Price

Lulu & The Help You Crew is based on a book by Ariane Price

UK-based kids’ entertainment firm Cake has teamed up with Bridesmaids writer Annie Mumolo and comedian Ariane Price on a 3D CG animated series developed with Reel FX Animation.

Lulu & The Help You Crew (52×11′) follows an extraordinary eight-year-old girl who lives in a multicultural melting-pot with her Argentinian grandmother and an eccentric and hilarious crew of rescued pets.

Together, they help the town’s pets and young animals overcome everyday childhood challenges such as feeling overwhelmed by new experiences, dealing with sibling rivalry, being worried about what other people think and being afraid of the dark, to find the confidence to be their best selves.

Targeting three- to five-year-olds, it was created by Mumolo, who as well as 2011 comedy hit Bridesmaids wrote and starred in cult classic Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, and Price, a senior member of the Groundlings sketch and improv comedy theatre. It is based on Price’s book The Amazing Ned.

Working with Mumolo and Price, Cake will distribute the series internationally and is leading development and production with US- and Canada-based Reel FX Animation as exec producers.
