Cake takes Kally’s MashUp

Kally’s MashUp was created by Adam Anders

UK distributor Cake has picked up the rights to Nickelodeon Latin America’s teen musical series Kally’s MashUp.

Under the agreement, Cake will manage broadcast rights in the UK, Ireland, Oceania and EMEA for the family comedy, which was created by Adam Anders, the executive music producer of hit US teen musical series Glee.

A coproduction between Nick Lat Am, Anders’ prodco Anders Media and Lat Am outfit 360 Powwow, the 75×60’ series centres on Kally, a 13-year-old music prodigy who joins a prestigious music academy from a small town.

It is exec produced by Anders and Powwow 360’s Daniel Gutman, with original songs composed by Anders’ wife, Nikki Anders, and his long-time collaborator, Peer Astrom.

Ed Galton, MD and chief creative officer of Cake, said his team was “deeply impressed” with the quality of the series, adding that with songs shot in English, the format had “huge global potential.”
