C5 streamer My5 strikes content deals

The My5 content deals include Secrets of Stonehenge

Channel 5 in the UK has signed four content partnership deals for its streaming service My5, bringing 1,500 additional hours to the platform over the next year.

PBS America in the US, UK free-to-air channel Together, UK digital content firm Little Dot Studios and fellow Viacom-owned network BET have all been provided with a branded presence on My5.

The move comes after C5 agreed a similar deal with A+E Networks UK for its channel Blaze last year, as part of its strategy to increase the amount of third-party programming available on My5.

“Viewers have come to expect a lot more from streaming services and this new slate of partners accelerates the development of My5 as we take it from player to platform,” said James Tatam, VP of commercial, digital and operations at Channel 5.

Programming added as part of the distribution deals includes Secrets of the Manor House, Secrets of Stonehenge, Becoming the Beatles, The History Detectives, Mary’s Silver Service, David Attenborough’s Richmond Park, Being Mary Jane and Chasing Destiny.

These programmes will sit alongside Viacom-owned Channel 5 content such as Neighbours, The Yorkshire Vet, Make or Break?, GPs: Behind Closed Doors and Rich House, Poor House, plus acquired programmes East Los High and Wonderland.
