C4 meets Expectation for game format

Tony Robinson’s Forgotten War Stories examines conflicts worldwide

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has commissioned a primetime comedy gameshow from Peter Fincham and Tim Hincks’ UK prodco Expectation Entertainment.

I Literally Just Told You (6×60’) gives contestants the answers to the questions they are being asked. The catch is the answers have been written into the show and they need to have been paying attention to know them.

The format was created by former TV presenter Richard Bacon, who executive produces the show alongside Adam Hutchinson for Expectation. Bacon has had two formats greenlit already this year, with BBC1 taking This Is My House and Australian pubcaster ABC ordering The Hustler.

I Literally Just Told You will premiere on Channel 4 and its streaming platform All4 on a date yet to be confirmed. Comedian and Channel 4 regular Jimmy Carr will host.

In related news, Channel 4 has also greenlit UK factual indie Woodcut Media to produce a history doc series about international conflict presented by Sir Tony Robinson.

Tony Robinson’s Forgotten War Stories (6×60′) will be distributed internationally by Woodcut International and airs on Channel 4 later this year.

Robinson (Blackadder, Tony Robinson’s History of Britain, Time Team) explores the Suez Crisis, the Bosnian War, the Gulf War, the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency and the Mau Mau Uprising in Kenya.

Each episode features historians, experts and eyewitnesses from around the world who relay their experiences during the conflicts.

The series was ordered by Polly Scates, acquisitions manager at Channel 4, and the deal was brokered by Woodcut’s creative director, Derren Lawford. The executive producer is Paul Wooding, with Nick Mavroidakis as series producer for Woodcut.
