C4 gives Chicken Connoisseur taste of TV

Elijah Quashie gained fame as the Chicken Connoisseur

Channel 4 in the UK has ordered three new factual shows, including a TV debut for Elijah Quashie, who is better known as YouTube sensation the Chicken Connoisseur.

The Peng Life (1×30’) will see Quashie appear alongside special guests to review everything from food to fashion at different price points across London. It is being produced by Renowned Films.

Meanwhile, factual entertainment series Alone at Home (4×60’) sees parents leave their children unaccompanied at home for the weekend to see how they cope without their guardians around.

The show was commissioned by C4’s Lucy Leveugle, commissioning editor for factual entertainment, and Kelly Webb-Lamb, head of factual entertainment. It will be produced by Sony-backed Electric Ray under executive producer Meredith Chambers and MD Karl Warner.

Finally, My Week as a Muslim, produced by ITV-owned The Garden Productions, is a one-off programme exploring what it’s like to be Muslim in Britain today. It aims to challenges assumptions and prejudices between different communities in the UK.

My Week as a Muslim was commissioned by former C4 commissioning editor for factual entertainment Danny Carvalho, and is now being overseen by Webb-Lamb and new factual entertainment commissioning editor Gilly Greenslade. Fozia Khan and Jenny Midl will executive produce for The Garden Productions with series producer Sam Ornbo.
