C4 follows War Child

MIPCOM: Channel 4 in the UK has commissioned a powerful documentary about child refugees from the producer behind Man on Wire and Searching for Sugar Man.

War Child (working title) is being produced by Lightbox, the company founded by Academy Award-winning producer Simon Chinn (Man on Wire, Searching for Sugar Man) and Emmy winner Jonathan Chinn (American High, 30 Days).

Their latest project will follow four child refugees attempting to make their way from their war-torn homes in the Middle East and Afghanistan to Europe. The film will be directed by Jamie Roberts (The Jihadis Next Door, Angry White & Proud).

Told from the point of view of the children, all of whom speak English, the doc will chart their dangerous journey across continents.

The show is being pitched to international buyers in Cannes this week as part of FremantleMedia International’s slate.
