C4 builds Most Expensive Houses series

Britain’s Most Expensive Houses follows UK Sotheby’s International Realty.

The UK’s Channel 4 has taken factual prodco Waddell Media’s aspirational real estate show Britain’s Most Expensive Houses to series.

The format debuted as a special on December 28 and the commercially funded pubcaster has now ordered a 4×60’ run.

The series uses exclusive access to auction house UK Sotheby’s International Realty who are responsible for selling some of the country’s priciest and most luxurious homes.

Jannine Waddell, MD of Belfast-based Waddell Media, and consulting developer Sophie Wurzer-Williams are executive producers, with Paula Campion as showrunner.

In related news, C4 has also commissioned a one-hour documentary that explores the complex relationship between the gambling industry and football, fronted by former poltician Ruth Davidson.

Ruth Davidson Tackles Gambling and Football (working title) is a 60-minute programme produced by Firecrest Films, executive produced by Nicole Kleeman, filmed and directed by Jennifer Shaw and commissioned by C4 head of news and current affairs Louisa Compton.

In her debut documentary since stepping down as leader of the Scottish Conservatives party, Davidson examines the popularity of football betting, the growth of gambling advertising, the impact of new technology and widespread concerns about harm, particularly for younger fans.
