MGM International Television Productions has covered a lot of ground since June 2020, when Rola Bauer was tapped as its new president. Munich-based Bauer, who was formerly the founding partner of Tandem and MD of StudioCanal TV, was brought in by the chairman of MGM Television Group, Mark Burnett, with a mandate to expand the iconic MGM brand with a slate of globally sourced series.

Over the past two years, the label has built a slate of seven scripted titles, including Harlan Coben’s Shelter, Billy The Kid from Vikings creator Michael Hirst and Spanish-language drama El fin del amor.

Bauer spoke to C21FM about MGM’s post-acquisition opportunities with Amazon, which completed its acquisition of the US studio earlier this year, as well as building MGM’s international TV slate and whether the subscription video-on-demand bubble is about to burst.

C21FM is live 24/7, with a block of interviews starting at 10am BST every day HERE.
