C21 grows editorial team with new hires

Ruth Lawes

C21Media has continued the expansion of its London-based editorial team with the appointment of two journalists, as its digital business enjoys rapid growth.

Ruth Lawes has joined C21 as senior reporter while Oli Hammett has taken the role of reporter, both starting at the company this week.

Lawes previously worked as a reporter for Norwich-based local newspaper Eastern Daily Press as well as having stints at travel magazine BA High Life, lifestyle title Cosmopolitan and the culture desk of national paper The Telegraph. She has also worked in TV programme development for Objective Media Group.

Oli Hammett

Hammett, meanwhile, joins C21 from the broadcast journalism course at City University in London. He has also worked at London-based documentary prodco Top Hat Productions and media agency MediaCom Global. He previously worked in Chile and Mexico teaching business English.

“Ruth is an experienced senior reporter with a wealth of local journalism experience to bring to the C21 newsdesk, while Oli has the multimedia training and news sense to make a significant contribution to our coverage of the international content business,” said C21’s editorial director Ed Waller.

“These hires will be invaluable as we continue to grow our market-leading coverage of the global content business, expand our line-up of editorial brands and continue our digital growth.”
