Bunim/Murray picks Pizzi as president

Banijay-owned Bunim/Murray Productions (BMP), the US prodco behind Keeping Up With the Kardashians, has promoted Julie Pizzi to president.

Pizzi has been upped from president of entertainment and development. In that role, she had creative and development responsibility for the outfit’s format series and oversaw the the development of original formats.

Her recent credits include exec producing Bill Nye Saves the World for Netflix. She also partnered with Facebook to launch Ball in the Family, one of the first series for the social media giant’s Watch platform.

Pizzi began her career at BMP in the late 1990s, spending six years as creative VP and showrunner. During that time, she worked on shows including Road Rules and Real World/Road Rules Challenge (MTV) and Born to Diva (VH1).

In 2004, she left BMP to launch reality and documentary company PB&J Television. As co-president of PB&J, Pizzi exec produced Sports Illustrated: Swimsuit Model Search (NBC), Reversal of Fortune (Showtime), America’s Prom Queen (ABC Family), Bad Sex (LOGO) and Dress My Nest (Style).

Pizzi rejoined BMP in her most recent position in 2015. Her promotion to president follows the departure of chairman and CEO Gil Goldschein, who left BMP earlier this month.

Pizzi said: “I started my career at Bunim/Murray and was mentored by its founders, the late Mary-Ellis Bunim and Jonathan Murray. I have incredible admiration for the company they created and it’s important for me to continue to build on what they built in both nurturing creativity and developing content that is both innovative and entertaining.”
