It comes as Deep Fusion Films’ activities in the US grow, with the company securing what it calls the first-ever AI development deal with a major US network, details of which are yet to be revealed.
The company is currently in development on feature documentary Hunt: We Need to Talk About James, which looks at the life of the Formula One legend James Hunt.
It is also producing the feature documentary Hammer: Heroes, Legends & Monsters for Sky, which celebrates the 90th anniversary of the iconic horror studio Hammer Films.
It comes after Deep Fusion made the recent film about Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson, who was responsible for some of the UK’s most popular children’s TV shows of the 1960s.
In Gerry Anderson: A Life Uncharted, deepfake technology was used to ‘ethically’ repurpose intimate audio archive footage and bring Anderson back to the screen to discuss his life and career.
Deep Fusion is also developing other unannounced AI projects, including true crime and kids titles as well as a podcast.
Set up last year by Andrew Keats, Benjamin Field and Jamie Anderson, the Cardiff-based company recently appointed industry veteran Christian Darkin as head of creative AI and Niki Page as senior VP of commercial and partnerships.
Set up by Don Buchwald, who passed away in July aged 88, in 1977 alongside five associates, talent agency Buchwald has offices in New York and LA and claims to be an industry leader in talent representation.
Field, co-founder and executive producer at Deep Fusion Films, said: “To be represented by Buchwald is a great step forward for Deep Fusion. Don Buchwald was a legend in the industry, and we’re thrilled that such a forward thinking and respected agency will look after our interests and opportunities as we innovate and lead the creative charge with AI in the US.”
