Buccaneer sails off with Doll Factory

UK-based producer Buccaneer Media has secured the TV rights to a forthcoming novel from Scottish author Elizabeth Macneal.

The Doll Factory will be executive produced by Buccaneer’s Tony Wood and Anna Burns. The prodco was behind ITV crime drama Marcella, starring Anna Friel.

The rights were licensed by Hayley Steed, associate agent at Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency, following a 14-way publisher pitch.

Talent agency APA has been appointed to represent the production in the US.

Set in 1850 London, The Doll Factory tells the story of an aspiring artist working in a doll-making shop who warms to a reclusive collector.

The book won the 2018 Caledonia Novel Award and will be released in 2019.
