Bryncoed snags CBBC alum

UK children’s drama-focused indie Bryncoed Productions has appointed a former producer for CBBC, the children’s arm of pubcaster the BBC, as its new young adult (YA) development head.

Jonathan Wolfman

Jonathan Wolfman joins the Canterbury-based prodco set up by Riviera producer Foz Allan, with one of his immediate priorities being the development of action-adventure series Undercover Kid. He will also steer the nascent company’s YA concept development as it grows its slate.

The firm recently secured an order from satcaster Sky Kids in the UK for tween live-action series The Athena and is also adapting murder-mystery books The County Guides to Murder with Sherlock scribe Steve Thompson.

Prior to joining Bryncoed, Wolfman worked on a number of high-profile CBBC YA and children’s shows such as Worst Witch, Wolfblood, Hetty Feather, Pet Squad and Scoop. He also served on award-winning series The Dumping Ground and Tracy Beaker Returns. Before CBBC, Wolfman worked at prodco Talent Television.

Allan, who worked with Wolfman on Wolfblood, Hetty Feather and The Dumping Ground, said his “understanding of YA audience is second to none.”

Wolfman is Bryncoed’s second development hire this year, after adding NBCUniversal alum Emma Yap as development producer in June.
