Brooklyn Nine-Nine started on Fox before moving to NBC

Comcast-owned US network NBC has confirmed the eighth season of police sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine, airing later this year and into 2022, will be its last.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine began in 2013 and stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz and Melissa Fumero. Initially shown on Fox, the show was cancelled after season five and picked up by NBC.

Dan Goor, Mike Schur, David Miner, Luke Del Tredici and David Phillips all exec produce the series for Universal Television and US prodcos Fremulon, Dr Goor Productions and 3 Arts Entertainment.

In its most recent seventh run, the show reached 24 million viewers and was NBC’s second top-rated digital show. S7 also saw increased engagement with official YouTube videos, with views rising to 74 million from September 2019 to May 2020.

The comedy police procedural revolves around the detectives in Brooklyn’s fictional 99th Precinct. The final season is still in production and an air date has not yet been announced.
