Joker and Ten Percent prodco Bron Studios has partnered with Florida-based experiential entertainment outfit Falcon’s Beyond to jointly develop and produce content based on the latter’s theme park IP.

Under the deal, the two companies will develop content ranging from movies and TV series to video games and web3 activations. This includes Falcon’s Beyond’s new experiential entertainment brand Katmandu.

The Katmandu brand, described as a “mythical universe” full of magical characters, already exists in theme parks in Spain and various branded kids’ camps attached to hotels in the Meliá Hotels International chain.

Known for its live installations at theme parks, hotels and festivals, Falcon’s Beyond is expanding on this with a new theme park, titled Katmandu Park, that is planned to open in the Dominican Republic by late 2022 or early 2023.

Drawing on its production assets and access to talent, Bron will turn the Katmandu brand, characters and storylines into movies, TV series and video games.

The alliance with the Canadian studio continues Falcon’s Beyond’s recent partnerships with players in the content space. In May, the company teamed with Moonbug Entertainment to bring the latter’s popular CoComelon and Blippi brands into the world of location-based entertainment.

The Orlando firm has also teamed with Ken Faier’s children’s content company Epic Story Media to develop Katmandu beyond a theme park into content, gaming and consumer products.

In addition, it has inked a deal to populate its real-world edutainment venue Curiosity Playground with popular characters and brands from preschool television service PBS Kids, such as Dinosaur Train, Odd Squad, Sid the Science Kid, Wild Kratts and SuperWHY.

“The opportunity to collaborate with Falcon’s Beyond to co-develop and coproduce IP makes this an invaluable partnership for Bron,” said Aaron Gilbert, CEO of Bron Studios.

Cecil D Magpuri, CEO of Falcon’s Beyond, added: “This collaboration with Bron leverages our complementary areas of expertise to create new opportunities for ongoing fan loyalty and engagement for our respective brands and IPs.”
