Bromstad to exit NBCU

Angela Bromstad, president of NBC entertainment and Universal Media Studios, is to leave the company following its merger with Comcast.

Bromstad’s departure had been expected following regulator approval of the Comcast deal earlier this week, and her exit follows that of NBC Universal (NBCU) chairman Jess Gaspin, who she reports to.

In a memo to staff announcing the news, Bromstad paid tribute to her team. “I cannot possibly sum up my thoughts and emotions in an email but suffice it to say I have tremendous respect for the company and for the people with whom I have had the privilege to work with and know during my time here,” she wrote. “I take great memories and friendships with me.”

The move represents the second time Bromstad has departed from her role as head of Universal Media Studios. She left in 2007 with the arrival of Ben Silverman, moving to London to become NBCU’s UK-based president of international television production.

With Silverman’s departure however, she returned to the US at the start of 2009, taking on the president of entertainment role.
