The multi-year deal secures carriage for the company’s pay channels U&Gold and U&alibi, as well as VoD platform U and its free-to-air channels.

As part of the agreement, U will become available in 95% of homes via Virgin TV later this year. It is currently accessible only to Virgin Media customers with a Stream or Virgin TV 360 box.

The partnership ensures Virgin Media customers can continue to access UKTV dramas such as Murdoch Mysteries and Miss Scarlet, as well as classic sitcoms like Only Fools & Horses and Dad’s Army.

David Bouchier, chief TV and entertainment officer at Virgin Media O2, said: “This deal demonstrates the evolution of our fantastic partnership with UKTV and brings brilliant updates for our customers.”

Sam Tewungwa, MD of UKTV, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our offer for customers, complementing the brilliant channels and programming for which we are renowned with access to our U streaming app and growing suite of FAST channels.”
