BriteSpark, Saloon look at ladykillers

Cable broadcasters in the US and Canada have handed the first international commission to fledgling factual outfits BriteSpark Films and Saloon Media.

Investigation Discovery in the US and Canadian lifestyle channel Slice have ordered Handsome Devils (10×60′), a docu-drama series about real-life ladykillers.

The series is being produced by BriteSpark, a joint venture between UK superindie Argonon and former Cineflix head of documentaries Nick Godwin that launched in January, and Saloon, former eOne factual chief Michael Kot’s new Canadian firm.

Godwin and Kot will both have executive producer roles on the coproduced series, which is set to air in 2014 and explores 10 crimes of passion against women.

“We’ve had very successful collaborations in the past when we were with other companies; Nick Godwin knows quality and he knows what succeeds,” Kot said.
